I drove 2 hours to capture Comet Lemmon under dark skies! It was worth it!

Finally! After a month of clouds, a short break in the cloud cover for #comet C/2025 A6 #Lemmon. I could make 6 x 15s exposure with Nikon Z6 and 85mm 1.8. Comet easy visible with naked eye, and over 10 degrees tail in binoculars. Then again... clouds.

#Comet C/2025 A6 #Lemmon in the constellation Boötes, on the evening of October 24th. Captured from the light polluted outskirts of Munich.

16 minutes integration time with my Fujifilm X-S10 and 135mm f4.5 lens (untracked).

Here's a quick pass I made at some data for the "Ghost of Cassiopeia". This is just shy of 40 hours of data and damn that star is BRIGHT. I'm going to spend some more time with it and see if I can't tease out some more contrast in some places but it was a fun one.

Comet Lemmon taken last night, 24 Oct.
Some fantastic detail in the gas tail, which has changed a lot in only the last few days.
Mono image only, due to cloud coming in before I could capture RGB data.
22 x 45 sec exposures. Esprit 100 scope. 2600MM camera

Reprocessed my comet Lemmon data to show it against the fixed star background.
Taken with my 100mm refractor at 550mm focal length, and mono ASI2600 camera.
I took some RGB data too, but not sure if I can use this to give a colour image

Good morning. Starlink has now launched more than TEN THOUSAND satellites into orbit. Nearly 1400 have already been burned up in the atmosphere so far.

Here's a "lovely" image from my Kuiper Belt discovery program with dozens of satellite streaks in a 3 hour […]

I tried my best to capture an L-RGB image of comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon using a monochrome cam. It's feasable, but it's not as nice and starightforward as with a color cam because Comets move fast!!!!! #astrophotography.
Where's this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

I captured Comet Lemmon early October 7, 2025. Using my 300mm Ceravolo telescope and CCD camera. About 30 minutes of total exposures using LRGB filters. The tail is much longer than shown in this 1 degree field of view.

Lemmon juice being squeezed out of the comet C/2025 A6 #astrophotography. Shot this evening but it's really low so it is tough to even think about getting this one done in RGB.
Can you try and solve this one @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

My first try for Saturn since last year. It took a while to set up my scope for this. I'm feeling very rusty!
The rings are narrowing with their South face tilted towards us; they'll be nearly edge on around the end of November.
It feels good to be doing planetary imaging again 🙂

There's something about a crescent moon that rivals other phases. They're so dramatic. I rendered this one as a "mineral moon," revealing its mineral deposit colors.
