I hope they lean into this with the art direction of the series. And from what I've seen from still images, they might? There's a painterly quality to the art style--again, I have FEELINGS about this.

Maul is a painter (alluded to in Rebels, canon in Legends) so maybe this is how he sees the world

I have a lot of feelings about how the teaser uses ink blots and paint, with his own face eventually emerging from the Rorschach. I love this as an aesthetic choice (I hope they lean into it with the animation of the series) but also for the symbolism of it. We're finally getting into Maul's head.

GREAT question. I've been out of the loop for years, but interestingly, the trailer for Season Seven of The Clone Wars dropped on January 22nd 2020 and then the season premiere on February 21st just a few weeks later.

The Maul: Shadow Lord trailer is premiering on the same say six years later 😱

Take me back to January 2012 where Star Wars bent itself over backwards to explain the resurrection of Darth Maul. People forget that he wasn't suddenly brought back out of nowhere; there were novels and short stories released prior to The Clone Wars specifically to prime audiences for his return.
