Aurora Round 2
Some iPhone shots of the aurora right now from right in town in Fairbanks. Strong enough to see from downtown near Walmart! Best imaged with a phone or camera, but the colors are naked-eye visible…

On the subject of World Cup boycotts, this is a story which ought to be much better known: why African countries decided not to compete for a place at the 1966 tournament. One of Fifa's most shameful moments, which hardly ever gets a mention.

How Africa boycotted the 1966 World Cup
The BBC's Piers Edwards explains the little-known story behind the African boycott to the 1966 World Cup, the only World Cup in history to have been snubbed by an entire continent.

Not sure I have ever seen this color of aurora before - literally pure blue and indigo. This is happening now over central Canada in Rabbit Lake, SK.

Apple screwed up again with live sports in the AVP.

Stop treating it like a production, every cut actually makes it worse. If you were sitting in the seat at the game YOU DON'T SEE ANYTHING BUT THE GAME.

That is the experience you're selling, being courtside or pitchside & nothing else.
Good thing they re-based their whole design language across all their popular devices on a device that no one actually wants, even though it makes no sense in any other context
Apple: You (Still) Don’t Understand the Vision Pro
The first live sporting event was broadcast in the Vision Pro, and it’s a big disappointment. The experience could be amazing, but Apple actively ruins it.

Which idiot thinks taking out a foreign head of state means their country will just listen to some remote American government appointee?

The local & regional leaders in place have zero reason to trust anything being said.

Or that America will back their play beyond this week.

How is it in the year 2025, that red traffic lights are incapable of flashing when the power is out?

It's a circuit, when the power is on, the light works as controlled. But when the power is out, each red light will blink for at least 48 hours off a battery.

And they are letting the guys get up there by construction ladder 😭

FIFA wasn't entirely to blame for the drastic spike in World Cup ticket prices that left fans angered and forced a rethink from soccer's governing body.

But it made one crucial mistake that led to a publicity disaster.
