This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

Whether string theory is right or wrong (it's way over my head), it's always a pleasure to listen to Brian Greene.
One the best known proponents of string theory, Brian Greene, describes why it is still the best theory to understand the fundamental laws of nature. But can it even be tested? This week, it’s "Skeptic Check: String Theory" buff.ly/SOmv0qH

Whitewashing in action.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

1/ New photos of the gaudy decorations that Trump has installed in the White House have once again raised claims of "dictator chic". But actual dictators, past and present, haven't gone in for this kind of style. Read on to see the true inspiration.

Hawaiʻi has 18 plant species with only a single wild individual left. Dozens more around the world hang by the same thread.

We count what’s visible but most extinctions happen before we even know the species exist, plants especially.

Hey fellow Canadians! Please stop behaving like assholes!

I'd like to feel bad for Jays fans, but they were openly hostile to me when I wore the opposing team's gear (CWS) to a game in Toronto in 2024. People often describe Canadians as polite and welcoming, so I wasn't prepared to have a bad experience. I had no issues at 17 other MLB parks.

Artificial light is a nuisance for birds, bats, and butterflies (and astronomers too).
Light pollution can confuse monarchs, disrupting their internal clock and navigation on their remarkable journey from Canada to Mexico. Artificial light can even cause them to take flight at night, wasting precious energy.
