Imagine being a voter who sold out all the women/queer/immigrant folk in your life because you thought Trump was going to reduce the cost of eggs. Poor things, how could they have known!

as i pointed out in July of last year - project 2025 is going to decimate HUD & affordable housing production

they are going to break the housing market - only the wealthy will be able to buy homes. working class renters will have to pay exorbitant rents - a permanent underclass, no upward mobility
Sharp cuts at the Department of Housing and Urban Development are likely to upend housing markets, make homes less affordable and roil mortgage transactions, according to current and former employees, contractors and housing experts.
HUD cuts expected to worsen America’s housing crisis, staffers say
The Department of Housing and Urban Development is expected to be slashed in half, according to an internal memo obtained by The Washington Post.

SEATTLE JUST VOTED TO ENACT A TAX ON MILLIONAIRE BUSINESSES TO BUILD SOCIAL HOUSING.

Late results tend to favor left wing results, so the chance of this flipping in the coming days is near zero.
JUST IN: Seattle voters are saying yes to social housing and yes to Proposition 1A, which would levy a 5 percent payroll tax on employers on annual compensation above $1 million paid to any employee in the city. election-results-01.kingcounty.gov/results.pdf

There has been a shift in the Trump team's language in their anti-DEI attacks. All of a sudden they started calling it "DEIA", with the A being "accessibility". If you don't think it's a coordinated effort to remove disabled people from every facet of life, well I have news for you.

If you wanted to decrease the cost of homes, one thing you wouldn’t do is put a flat tariff on your main source of timber.

Who around here has a vision of how we’ll actually solve the housing crisis? We have a fascist regime claiming mass deportation is the answer, but it seems like on the national level our only counterpoints are sad policy tweaks like tax credits for first time homebuyers. How are we rallying folks?

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

A new study found co-living congregate housing could spur conversions of vacant offices, which are much costlier to convert to conventional housing. It could also return Seattle to its affordable single-room occupancy roots.
