As I saw a raptor circle a patch of woodland yesterday I instinctively thought buzzard but something was off. Lifting my camera I thought, perhaps a Goshawk stretching its legs? Then it dawned on me I was watching a Hen Harrier (f) wheeling around. Won’t forget that in a hurry! #HantsBirds

Finishing my second year of birding with a UK list of 187 (48 added this year). Some incredible moments. I’ve also realised I’ve managed to see a lifer every month since I started - a streak that I imagine isn’t going to last for much longer! Here’s to seeing a Lesser Whitethroat in 2026! 🤞

Many thanks to the 20 sites who participated in yesterday's #westmidsalldayer - 4 sites managed to break the 100 mark with Blithfield narrowly pipping Belvide to the post. I'll pull together a list of all the species seen across the sites (usually c140 species). Well done all 👏
