Man of odd enthusiasms and possibly the villain of my own story.
I'm surprised Nancy Mace isn't posting about how long her food takes to digest "It wouldn't take this long if you were in Tim Scott's digestive tract!"

I guess we know why Trump, Bondi, Patel and Mike Johnson have been covering up the Epstein files. I’m sure there is a whole lot more and a whole lot worse.

Happy National Cat Appreciation Day. Here is a picture of my cat, Pickle. Yes, he is quite handsome and yes, he knows it. He is a good boy.

The root of human superstition is the need to assign causes to inexplicable phenomena. For instance, I believe our yoga instructor this morning was possessed by a Demon, which explains why she tried to kill us

I would bet that right now the DOJ is telling Robinson that if he publicly states he's Left Wing they'll go easy on him. That's where we are with things in this country.

They don't want you to know how many families are food insecure, because when it's your family then you will think it's just you. Same with Inflation. They don't want you to know how bad it's getting.

It's okay for the NFL to inject politics into their games when it's Charlie Kirk but not for Colin K. It's okay to lionize Charlie Kirk but somehow evil to quote his own words. It's okay for Democrats to be murdered in their homes by Trump supporters but the VP should use AF2 to transport Charlie.

“Charlie Kirk was a bad person but even bad people don’t deserve to be murdered” is all they have to say. It’s not hard.
I don’t need to be told not to celebrate violence or speak ill of the dead but all this hagiography of Kirk is just absurd. He was a vicious, bigoted troll who devoted his life to making things as shitty as possible for anyone who wasn’t like him. He made the discourse worse in every possible way.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

I think that the best way to honor Charlie Kirk is to go ahead with something he said in the last days of his life:

Release the Epstein Files.

I know Charlie Kirk valued debate and free speech because he blocked me for fact-checking his lies on Twitter and then put me on his organization's Professor Watchlist for writing a book he didn't like.

Charlie Kirk wants friends and loved ones of mine locked up or worse for being Trans. I am angry and upset that he is dead, which is a key difference between Charlie Kirk and myself.

I'm giving James Dobson the same amount of compassion he gave to so many people he wanted outlawed, imprisoned, or killed.

That's what the Bible says to do, after all. If you need me I'll be over here doing unto James Dobson as he's done to others.

@scalzi.com 's post about old sci-fi and required reading in that genre really got me thinking about "Farnham's Freehold". Easily one of the most racist and despicable books the so-called "Grandmaster" ever wrote.

The book starts off with the obligatory self insert characters of Hugh Farnham.

If you haven't read this book, one of the characters asks her father which is worse: incest or miscegenation?

Her dad says they're about the same and she decides that when she wants to fuck, she'll be keeping it in the family, specifically with her father. This isn't the worst part of this book.
Farnham's Freehold is absolutely one of the most despicable books Heinlein ever wrote and he gets way too many free passes because he wrote "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress".
