If you can then you will enjoy our new Game "Starting9"

I plan on introducing new sets of 9 puzzles weekly. This week we have our 14th Series "Niekro".

Getting as much mileage out of this 45 as I can this week.

Closing with the Retro Inserts and Rookie Cup Cards.

1991 Topps is solid so this is a nice retro - I wonder how many other 1991 cards Mantle is on.

Bit of RedSox hot pack, couple of inserts, the FS Khristian Campbell and Password.

That concludes our 2026T 2-Pack break. Dupe Stats tomorrow PM.
February 13, 2026 at 1:39 AM
Each pack had a couple of what I assume are continuity inserts.

2 different styles but basically similar. one has baseballs the other has stars. kind of lazy kids.

Next up Team Cards.

one good thing about getting a boatload of dupes is you can feature a front & back in the same shot.

but these are a bit weak.

How does the Dodgers Team Card not have the words "World Series" on the b-side?

And what's with the Team Leader stats not having THE STAT?

FAIL

And here are the Phillies cards that are in Phillies threads. I always appreciate the use of the Liberty Bell Logo.

Between the 4 cards three different home jerseys are represented.

Kind of a Meh Harper card - unless you hate the electric blue city connect than I suppose it's worse than meh.

Good enough for me - I am adding Megill to the game dated card list :)
I bet this is the shot of him after the 1st inning of Game 5 of the Cubs-Brewers playoff series.

Nice!
So this presentation is scheduled for March 4th at 7pm ET with the Baltimore Babe Ruth Chapter of SABR on Zoom. I don't have the registration link at the moment, but if you're free I'd love for you to join us ❤️❤️
This could still change, but I’m kinda proud of this presentation title 🙏

Wrapping up base cards with the Outfielders.

Getting Password may be the highlight of non-Phils

Speaking of Phillies, we have one of the newest Phils in Aroldis Garcia with a good celebration going.
February 13, 2026 at 12:35 AM
Hell YES!
MLBN needs to do WAY more of this in the off-season
February 13, 2026 at 12:18 AM
Infield: couple of goofy jerseys here. I think Campbell is the only FS.

I like the CJ Abrams bat flip out of frame.
February 13, 2026 at 12:17 AM
Forgot to leadoff with the first card of 2026. All-Star Closer Trevor Megill - in a not so typical pitcher photo.
February 13, 2026 at 12:10 AM
During the interim, I will post some highlights.

First we have base cards, starting with Battery. Fairly typical pitchers photos for recent sets. Sean Murphy is the only catcher in the two packs that was shown catching. There were at least two catchers pictured running.

Pretty sure it's fewer RCs than 2025 update
8. I'm more curious how many rookie card logos you'll find.

chuckle
Looks incredible! And now I’m imagining Bouton turning around to admire Mt. Rainier while a hitter circles the bases.

Phungo Challenge: How many Dupes came out of these two packs of 36 cards?

Numbers Taken so far are 15, 25 and 27.

Winner gets first choice on 3 of the Dupes.

Shocked that one of the Doubles was Not Casty.

Will close this at Noon on Friday.

This is a brutal Week, 8-1 is very good. I have the O/U at 4.5 Wins.

ain't no garbage time in a game that close.
In 1962, at age 14, I played "garbage time" at the old Madison Square Garden.

I am sure Pete was an avid reader since he has "authored" at least a half dozen books:

plus the 2008 Deadline

Junior, Pudge Rodriguez, CC, Teixiera and Manny all moved in June/July. The Phillies "only" picked up Joe Blanton who goes 6-0 (incl postseason 2-0)

Phillies go 12-4 in Blanton's 16 starts including 3-0 PostSeason.

Plus the World Series Home Run.
The offseasons before 1980 and 2008 were really pretty quiet.

Added no one in 1980. Nobody.

Flipped Bourn for Lidge prior to 2008. The Mets added Johan Santana. Who was so *fucking* good. Didn't matter. Beat that ass again.

Added Feliz and Geoff Jenkins. Who were solid players, but not stars.

Flight to Catch?
Scott was ejected from his final MLB game. Always been curious how many people did that.

QB for 2 DIFFERENT SuperBowl Champs.
So I knew a bunch of guys from my alma mater went on to play pro football, but I had to think if anyone else was famous. Admittedly, it's Wiki, but I got Thomas Bopp (of the eponymous comet) ... and eight guys who played in the NFL (including one Heisman winner). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaney_...

I agree on getting Younger at C, but I was surprisingly impressed when I looked into age 35+ seasons of JTs comps:

Benito, Russell Martin, Ramon Hernandez, POSADA &

#1 Comp CARLTON FISK
I wanted to get younger at catcher too, and I'd have loved Bichette.

But we really ought to be fine.

Ranger leaving hurts a lot, but they made that decision when they traded for Luzardo. Like, I fully expected he'd be gone at the deadline. C'est la vie, hope he's beloved in Boston.

Eagles short Postseason, coupled with indifference to the Flyers/Sixers/Big5 has made for an extended off-season for Phillies chatter.
I don't even think "fans" are unexcited. I think two groups of people are upset: talk radio personalities who live solely on takes, and terminally online fans who think everyone in their little community represent the larger fanbase and have somehow convinced themselves they can run a team.
