INCREDIBLE !!

Here we are... 😱😱😱

After days of overloading and cracks propagating, Birch Glacier collapsed today at 3.24 pm over Blatten and the dammed Lonza river...

Devastating! 😭

😃 A new article published in J Biomech by Godin et al suggest that for kinematics assessment of running, 16-352 steps are needed for spatio-temporal parameters, 16-400 steps for linear measurements, and 336-704 steps for non-linear measurements.

This stark profit disparity highlights the challenges in promoting sustainable transportation. How can we incentivize walking and cycling when car and air travel, fueled by the highly profitable petrol industry, remain the dominant modes of transport?
NEW PAPER: The 2022 fossil fuel price jumps caused an oil and gas profit explosion. We show the US reaped the largest profit increase (USD 275bn) of any country. Big Oil claims this benefits the American people. In fact, 51% went to the richest 1%, only 1% to the bottom 50%. A 🧵

Just noticed that the Gait & Posture guidelines no longer include the statement regarding sample size justification introduced between 2018 and 2019 that sparked our analysis. Wonder what went into that decision?
Wondering if it is time to revisit this. Justifications might be slightly more common in Gait & Posture since 2022 but not sure describing current practice helps move things much. There were no changes to author/reviewer instructions following our publication, not sure about editorial instructions.

This paper is just out: doi.org/10.7717/peer.... We found that balance training on unstable surfaces in older adults does improve feedback responses to balance perturbations. Effects suggest that this may be mainly due to a decrease in muscle activation reducing an overshoot in the responses.
Balance training in older adults enhances feedback control after perturbations
Background As we age, avoiding falls becomes increasingly challenging. While balance training can mitigate such challenges, the specific mechanisms through which balance control improves remains uncle...
