Sellars (1948): "It has been said that a system of philosophy is not refuted, but becomes ignored. This is true. It is equally true (and for the same reason) that a clash of systems in the philosophical drama ends not in victory and defeat, but in a changing of the scene.

Familiarizing myself more with Sellars, I notice a psychological repulsion to the form in which thoughts are presented, followed by a pull into the text once I grasp certain things, which is mixed with a sigh and the thought, “Wilfrid - you could have put this more plainly, couldn’t you?”

Finally reading @peterschulte.bsky.social Mental Content in my summer project to work through some Cambridge Elements. It is extremely well written: straightforward but nonetheless teaching important distinctions and arguments without unnecessary complexity.
