The eggs in the Powerful Owl nests across Brisbane will be hatching over the next few days. A couple of weeks after that we may be able to hear the Owlets trilling in the nests. Then in late July / early August, they'll emerge from the hollows for the first time.

In one study, 36 of 37 dead Powerful Owls tested positive for rat poison. Which isn't to say they necessarily died from it, but rat poison is throughout native wildlife. 2nd generation poisons must be banned. There are alternatives.
