I keep hearing Christian apologists conflate two questions:

(A) Does life have intrinsic value without God?
(B) Does life have an ultimate purpose without God?

On (A), I'm yet to hear a good argument as to why atheists can't be Platonists who believe that life has objective intrinsic value.

Just found out it's @keithfrankish.com's birthday!!!! Mystery solved.
I'm feeling a deep sense of peace and joy today. Not sure why.

My newfound sense of peace and joy didn't stop me losing my cool and shouting at my 5 year old. I guess I'm not quite enlightened yet...

Is it unbiblical for the government to build highways? Further confirmation of my conviction that fundamentalist Christians are not evil, they're just not very bright.

I've just added a brief addendum to this.
I've come up with a mathematical proof that God beats the Multiverse. Looking forward to this post bringing about universal consensus on this matter.

I’m really looking forward to doing two events at this festival:

one on my book, Against Identity

one on a panel with @philipgoff.bsky.social and Fleur Jongepier to discuss the “charms and dangers” of AI

I've enjoyed reading the comments on this post. I think the best response is that the multiverse hypothesis makes it more likely our universe exists, which counterbalances the advantage for the God hypothesis I identify in the post. I need to think more about this.

The values of the constants are the same throughout all of space and time in our universe so this isn't a solution. You could consider other universes, but then you have to respond to my argument.
1 in 10 followed by 135 zeros is still a large number compared to 1 in infinity. We live in a universe existing in infinite time and infinite space. It happens to be one suitable for our form of life. Don’t make a big deal out of it.
