I just relistened to @hallierubenhold.bsky.social Bad Women S1. Now reading some old school ripperologist tomes. The language re murdered women is like a morbid Carry On film. "Tarts, strumpets". If it's not played for icks it's played for bawdy laughs ?

Fashionable suspect du jour for Ripper seems to be witness Charles Cross, based on the fact he used his stepfathers surname on some documents. Sleuths then extrapolate that this makes him a liar. Thus he must have been the killer.
