Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.

63% of people think net migration rose in the last 12 months
8% of people think it fell

Yet it fell by 400,000 in 2024 vs 2023
[It is falling further in 2025]

Public service broadcasters are doing a core part of their job on this topic badly if that 8% is not closer to 30% at least

In Hull and East Yorkshire today vote Ross or you’l get Reform. Simple as that.
The Trump effect would be the Farage effect. Swagger and prejudice that are isolating and ruinous.
The Brexit shitshow and America’s humiliation should be sounding very loud alarm bells. Not encouraging more stupidity. #localelections

I’m not telling people who to vote for but I’d certainly urge them to have faith in the candidates who turn up and face the public rather than run and hide behind a tarnished gold medal.
There have been so many different hustings as part of this election, all of them looking at a different issue, from climate, culture, business, young people or minority groups. A key part of the democratic process and I am pleased to have been able to have attended them all.

Picking through some of the music on BBC and loving Piano Room. Travelling in time from newcomer Myles Smith all the way back to 10cc, who I saw at Sheffield City Hall 49 years ago this month. Weird.
