LOVE all the proper indie memorabilia and ephemera in this new video from The Primitives. I worked in an independent record shop when a lot of this was going on. Evocative of the time. youtu.be/lMOrH0lw3mA?...

After all that drama the other night, went to a nice, relaxing big movie red carpet premiere.

Last night, heard a horrible wailing outside, found someone jumped off the railway bridge, failed suicide attempt, broken legs, great distress. Called 999 but line was bad so had to flag down passers by to call. No neighbours came out, passers by had ear buds, I was the only person who heard it!

RIP Peter Watkins, one of Britain’s least known yet most influential film directors. Here’s a Guardian review I did yonks ago for his relentlessly relevant Punishment Park, all his films are worth checking out; The War Game, Culloden, Privilege, etc. www.theguardian.com/film/2012/ja...

Went to see The Young Gods for the umpteenth time, first saw them around ‘87ish. With samples/drums/singer lineup they basically invented a new way to be a band. Still great, never let me down. Set mostly fab new LP, also managed bangers like Skinflowers, Gasoline Man and L’amourir. Top night.

This lp was a big deal for me: local band made good, went to school with two of the guitarists, one was a neighbour since the late 70’s, went to their first gigs and was integral to that newfangled Shoegaze scene. Will deffo be going to this.
Shoegaze legends Chapterhouse will perform their classic 1991 debut album ‘Whirlpool’ in full at Islington Assembly Hall in London on April 29, 2026 – exactly 35 years to the day since it was released...

Reading people, local boy Peter Strickland’s excellent dress based horror film In Fabric (2019) is on iPlayer. All character/place names are locally sourced, the spooky department store setting is based on Jacksons - check out the pneumatics. I love this movie so much that I actually appear in it!

I don’t see how you are all acting so calm when this country is having to manage without a Duke of York.

I love Diane Keaton’s incredible 1987 documentary Heaven, where she intersperses movie afterlives with talking head interviews about what heaven will be like. I hope she’s enjoying the irony of a lot of it now. Whole film is on YouTube. RIP Diane Keaton youtu.be/gsvi4-zbq0g?...

I’ve not been on holiday in almost 25 years. Not technically on one now, but I am in South-West France, having some nice food on a nice day with some nice people, so, for the next hour or so at least it’s Bonne Vacances pour moi!

Great evening bouncing on the sprung floor of Islington Assembly Rooms to the greatest “hits” of Krautrock courtesy of
Michael Rother plus added tape drones of Marta Salogni as support.

Although I have a player and some movies, I’ve never actually watched a 4K disc until now, so starting off as I mean to continue with this corker that I first saw on bootleg Betamax back in 1982 or thereabouts.

Man, those were the days to be a Tv reviewer, to see Thunderbirds you had to go to a cinema! None of that low-rez, timecoded, watermarked streamer that can only be watched on a laptop or phone bollox.
On this day in 1965 – Trapped In The Sky is shown to the press at The Scala Cinema in Birmingham on the big screen in colour, ahead of it’s UK debut on ATV Midlands Television at the end of the month #gerryanderson #sylviaanderson #fanderson #thunderbirds

A shockingly wholesome Gibby Haynes backed by the terrific teenage musicians of the Scott Thunes Institute performing a cracking version of Cough Syrup by Butthole Surfers. The kids know the song much better than he does. Enjoy. youtu.be/Gv3_lhH7fiQ?...
