If people are too scared to go to their medical appointments, you think they’re going to turn out to vote?

It is mindboggling to me that the American “thinking class” is only just starting to acknowledge the damage the president has wrought on relationships with allies. “Stir worry” is the understatement of the decade. www.wsj.com/world/europe...

When you remember that President Trump ran for office because he was roasted by President Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, wanting to take Greenland because he wasn’t awarded a Nobel checks out.

Hey rest-of-world, welcome to 🇨🇦 politics. Even if the PM announces he is resigning, that doesn't trigger an election & it also doesn't mean he's going anywhere anytime soon. I suspect he will likely remain PM while the Liberals run a leadership race/he prorogues parliament (look it up). So strap in.

Gotta love when the Beaverton and the Globe and Mail opinion section start singing the same tune. So many politicians, so few public leaders. Happy election year, Canada. #cdnpoli

Years of effort & promises later the govt was on its way to a good online harms bill with broad stakeholder buy-in. Then they tied it to changes in criminal code. They knew it was never making it thru committee & they wasted time trying. Sigh. Maybe in 2025. www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

This is completely insane. The federal policing side of the RCMP is operating with HUNDREDS of vacancies. We just passed the most extensive national security legislation to combat foreign interference. And now we are going to redirect again in a panic?! www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

This seems like a really blunt tool to address an issue that comes down to a lack of regulation of tech giants, who have failed to invest in adequate moderation and prioritize engagement (and profit) above all.

The internet can be really dangerous. But it can also be a lifeline for vulnerable kids.

A detail that seems to get lost in the northward finger-pointing is just how borders work: it’s the Americans who are responsible for who & what gets into 🇺🇸 from 🇨🇦. Yes, Canadian authorities need better tools to crackdown on human smuggling, but it takes two to tango when it comes to border security

I had a feeling but didn’t realize just how much I missed seeing news from verified publications and outlets on my social media.

Between the news ban on Meta platforms & whatever the hell is happening on Twitter, this platform reminds me of the promise we felt about the early days of social media.
