Using US military aviation is genuinely too frictionless until it isn't but woof, way too easy to dial up stuff like this
Imagining a counterfactual where (and I know this wouldn't apply here) air defense was much more propagated/air power was much less frictionless than it currently is.

if the tools will be used like this the tools should not exist, sorry. clearly the govt can't be responsible with stuff like JSOC, gotta get rid of it.

Look folks I'm sympathetic to and want to save movie theaters, but it is wild that at the big chains it takes actual 30 minutes from showtime to roll the feature

speaking strictly personally a lot of this year really fucking sucked and a good deal of that was my fault. there was some good stuff though especially towards the end. hoping to keep that going.

great example of how punctuation is important - the difference in civilian reaction to a column of shermans and a column of sherman's is uhhh pretty wide

(can you tell i'm absolutely dad-moding my reading rn)

Standing outside greeting the arrival of a city snow plow truck much like a French civilian greeting a column of Shermans in the Second World War

Days and weeks like this make me grateful that the median article of clothing I own is made out of Merino wool. Truly an unbeatable material

if anyone needs like half a handle of pretty shitty vodka i certainly have no further use for it
I need like 500ml of vodka to start a batch of homemade vanilla bean extract.

This is the first time I have encountered this problem because I am sober, but it is ridiculous that you cannot buy liquor (need for baking) before 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday in this accursed state

The trick to coming home from time away is to make sure you don't take your shoes off, therefore creating an insurmountable barrier to immediately going back out the door to get groceries

Me: has an extremely normal multi hour drive back to Pittsburgh city limits.
Also me: nearly gets sideswiped on the highway and separately has to call 911 about a stalled car on 376

Never change Pittsburgh

This is what they’re comfortable doing on camera, not enough people internalizing that part.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.
