Loving the vibrant beauty of this red kale!

#DYK that the reddish-purple colour is due to the presence of anthocyanins? These pigments are known to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

It's gorgeous now, but just wait until fall - cooler temperatures intensify these hues 🤩

These collards are the whole package - sturdy, large, robust leaves, packed with nutrition just begging to be eaten!

An excellent source of Vitamins K, A & C, they have good amounts of protein and calcium too! Talk about plant power 💪

Embracing the bitter beauty of dandelion!  Cut by hand and bunched with utmost care, the variety we grow is different than what grows on your lawns, characterized by extra large leaves. 1/4

Some of our lettuces begin their journey with a head start in a warm and humid greenhouse in early spring. When the time is right, the tiny seedlings get transplanted into our fields where they can spread out in the great outdoors, rooted in healthy soil. 1/3

Where are the Ontario organic strawberries?

If you're feeling like it's been harder to find Ontario's beloved strawberries this year - you're not alone. This growing season has seen a much slower start thanks to unseasonably cold weather in May. 1/3

The weather forever shapes our days, and with today's forecast calling for 36 degrees with a humidex well into the 40s, safety has to come first. We can't bring the fields indoors, but we can take steps to ensure the safety and well-being of the teams who work outside. 1/2

Very happy to be harvesting delicious Ontario organic strawberries this morning! 🍓🍓🍓

Quantities will be limited for now, but the expected heat next week should help the berries ripen quickly. Check back for updates as the season progresses!

Giving a little breathing room! Weeding between the rows can easily be done with a tractor. However, removing weeds right next to the newly emerged seedlings needs more precision.

We can't celebrate local food & farmers without acknowledging the very land that makes it all possible. Here in Ontario, we have some of the highest quality soil in the world. We must protect it. It's unique, it's precious, and it's more important than ever. 1/2
