During my many neighborhood walks I map out all the free libraries I see. I finally added them up. I found an astounding 49 book libraries within a 45-min walking radius. Plus 18 for food, art, fiber, pets, etc.

Writing from a hut in the mountains after spending the last week travelling to a remote place and hiking ~130 km. Another 1-2 days until I see a shower. Cannot wait.

Wow, my brain is having a real “I’m completely useless” few days. Horrible, DNW. And also grateful it happens so rarely these days.

I wasn’t going to get excited about the Murderbot series but now that I’ve watched the trailer (an undisclosed number of times) I am quite a bit actually.

I missed indie bookstore day but I did have a 3-hour nap. (I told myself I would only lie down for 10 minutes while re-listening to MurderBot but that was an obvious trick to get myself to lie down.)

Must take more time for macro photo.

Good quality sleep has been a bit of a struggle lately, so I’m even more impressed by my body for taking me up 800 m (2400 feet) of elevation in 3 hours, seemingly without a migraine.

In a related question, is the US the only one using feet to measure altitude?

Why is work when the sun is shining?

There’s a local queer bookstore I sometimes help with shelving books and tidying up and it’s very soothing for my brain.

Finally a sunny day, so here are some cherry blossoms, and a magnolia tree.

This was the sunniest day of the week. Looking forward to seeing the blue sky again one day. Hopefully this month.

Happy spring! The rain has been rough on the crocuses but there are still a few giving a show.

Go outside to enjoy the rare sunshine, Flo.

Either the hospital called me for mysterious reasons without leaving a voicemail or scammers have shed their last remaining speck of shame and are using hospital phone IDs.
Unimpressed either way.

It took me 20 minutes upon waking to remember it was Sunday and 3h to remember it was daylight savings time.

Always fun to see a bald eagle in the city during my morning walk. Unsurprisingly it was being harassed by crows.
(No photos because it was too far for my phone)

It’s been a while since I did a 20+ km hike and I should have anticipated the lack of energy to make myself dinner afterwards.

2025 has been so long already I thought for a full minute that we were in October.

Had to say goodbye to Bucky yesterday, after his kidney disease progressed more rapidly than expected.
Goodbye, friend. Thank you for a challenging and rewarding decade. You were the sweetest and most whiny dog I’ve ever known.

Autocorrect, why do you translate Ive into ivermectin? Isn’t there another word closer to Ive that would be more logical? Like I’ve? No?

Looks like I’m in a “need to surround myself with books” phase again. I will inevitably return to “i have too many things it’s declutter time” and return these books to the free tiny library ecosystem from which they came. All in all, a cheap hobby.

I remember enough to know I intentionally stored my external hard drive in a “better” place… not enough to remember where that is.
