Helsinki, one of the happiest cities in the world, cites the importance of bikes, paths, parks and transit to create equitable and accessible public spaces where 44% of people walk to work and for errands; 11% cycle; 24% take transit and only 20% drive!

.#HamOnt Art Crawl is going strong in the third year of May to October street closures. We are happy to help improve safety while crawling!

On a recent (pre-tarrif) trip to Seattle I toured a new waterfront cycle track which was built on the site of an elevated highway (Viaduct) and after its removal establised active transportation space complete with Indigenous and functional art and green design - the ideal complete street!

Attention Street Design Nerds! One of the most intriguing cities in recent years at reconsidering streets for people instead of just for cars, Oslo Norway, has translated their great Street Design Manual into English and put it on-line. Worth digging into. #Oslo

The Cannon Street bike lane was the first two-way separated bike lane in Ontairo. The Community and #HamOnt staff worked together to use the right of way in an equitable way, balancing the needs of all road users. This fall marks its successful 10-year anniversary.
