"I felt like a stranger in a city I used to know by heart... travelling through streets and neighbourhoods that had once been familiar to me, but I barely recognised anything. I kept asking the driver if we were there yet."
‘The faces were familiar, the food was familiar, but we had missed it for so long. The smell took me back years, to a time before all the times I had risked my life to get bread, vegetables or chicken for my family.’

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works?” the apostle James (or, most likely, one of his followers) asked. “Surely that faith cannot save, can it?” (James 2:14-15)
"We can’t build the blessed community with thoughts and prayers," Ron Hogan writes. "God wants more from us than just our love and attention; God also wants us to love our neighbors as ourselves—and expects us to put some backbone into it."

"ICE and Border Patrol have come to resemble militias that answer to the president and operate with seeming impunity. The killings in Minneapolis reveal how quickly this evolution has occurred and how deadly its consequences are. "
It is hard to escape the conclusion that ICE’s victimisation of Democratic-leaning cities like Minneapolis is more about politics than stemming illegal immigration

What is the legacy of America’s ‘forever wars’ in the Middle East, and does Donald Trump’s chaotic foreign policy really mark a break from what came before?
‘A lot of the limitations of freedom of speech, assembly, even religion, really does emerge in the aftermath of September 11th. In New York, they start arresting random Muslim men right away.’

To truly embrace mindfulness or prayer in nature, the brothers suggest leaving our phones behind or, on longer retreats, limiting their use to safety and navigation.
Time spent in nature is not necessarily akin to mindfulness, and cellphones easily follow us outdoors, distracting us from the work of the Spirit. To truly embrace mindfulness or prayer in nature, Phap Xa and Phap Luu suggest leaving our phones behind or limiting their use to safety and navigation.

To me, “that of God in everyone” suggests a radical equality among all people.
Every "low and despised" person rejected by the elites has that of God in them. Every outcast has a home in the blessed community.

And when they come together in love and solidarity, it can be, as George Fox urged us to be, "a terror to all the adversaries of God."

Yes! Compassion and love for the oddest of characters is a special gift an actor brings to a role.
Why did people love CatherineO'Hara so much? For me, it was not only her sheer talent, her once-in-a-generation gift for comedy and her always unpredictable line readings, but that she imbued a sense of compassion for all her oddball characters. outreach.faith/2026/01/why-...
