The ray of hope that is #Mamdani appoints Lina Khan to his transition team— how cool is that!!!

@nytimes.com has been so disappointing for so long, this piece explains it well. My hope is that the growing movement that Mamdani represents will reveal to mainstream ‘liberal’ readers how it’s so problematic

In the intro issue of New Left Review, Stuart Hall noted, “The humanist strengths of socialism—which are the foundations for a genuinely popular socialist movement—must be developed in cultural and social terms, as well as in economic and political.“

Zohran Kwame Mamdani‘s campaign got the point!

Chris Murphy: "There's a lot of history that has taken place in the East Wing & it was just destroyed without any conversation in the public, without any consent of Congress. It's absolutely illegal. That visual is powerful b/c you're watching destruction of the rule of law as those walls come down"

@carleton.ca has not succeeded dodging problems of pretended ‘neutrality’ with ‘impartiality,’ the purpose of universities is to be partial on the side of credible knowledge and responsibility but ‘academic freedom’ may be a better approach charlatan.ca/carleton-pol... #freeexpression #freespeech

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

Please explain to me how this utter abuse of state power to silence protest and override the #FirstAmendment is not garnering the level of outrage that the canceling of #Kimmel did. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Donald Trump says he is deploying troops to Portland, Oregon
Apparently misled by hyperbolic reporting from conservative outlets on a single small protest, president described peaceful city as ‘war ravaged’

Now is the time for the Canadian government to back off its terrible vision for Canada Post and offer new services like a not for profit social media platform, banking, and parcel service that fits the 21st century #postalstrike #goCUPW

Indeed, but this intimidation is very real precisely because “Antifa” is not a defined organization, they can and will go after whoever they wish.
Within 24 hours the president of my country of residence and the parliament of my country of birth designated “Antifa” a terrorist organization. Neither has the actual authority to do so. But far-right politics has always been more about intimidation than legality.

Marcetic in @jacobinmagazin.bsky.social makes excellent points, but this censorship is not like the Dem's fumbling attempts to regulate the cesspool of social media and its billions of profit. Its bullying the spineless corporate media world to enforce the shift to Trump's personal power.
