The term "klaxon" apparently was coined from the Ancient Greek word "klazō" which means "I shriek." It looks like their trademark registration in the US died back in the 1990s. The word "klaxon" in English is now just used to refer to a loud warning horn.

My husband and I noticed a few interesting IP things while researching the meaning of the word "klaxon" the other day!

Klaxon was originally a trademark owned by The Lovell-McConnell Manufacturing Company for patented signal horns; its use dates back to 1908.
