Well, the power's out in North Seattle. Apparently a "vault system" in Northgate caught fire. I wonder what those are. From the name and the problem, I assume it's important, protected electrical stuff?

This new Superman movie is, by far, the best Superman movie. It is Superman at its most comic bookest. It fully embraces all of the stupid comic book stuff that superhero movies have shied away from for being too silly, and it is so much better for it. A+, exactly what I wanted to watch.

Argh, Quantum Fiber's DNS is down, and I could fix that by using manual DNS, but it seems I can't change a Deco's DNS settings while it's not on the Internet!

@quantumfiber.bsky.social Hey are y'all offline? My internet isn't working and your outage status page isn't working either.

Some dark-eyed juncos built a nest in the little wreath on my front door! It's great, except that now we have to go in and out of the house through the back door.

One of Jackie and Shadow's eggs appears to be pipping, and I didn't realize how much I needed that to work out.

Manager: "What's this milestone 'Living on a prayer' ?"
Me: "That's the documentation deliverable."
Manager: "What's the status of that?"
Me: "We're halfway there"
Manager: "Why is progress so slow?"
Me: "You fired Tommy"
Manager: "So?"
Me: "Tommy used to work on the docs"

I should've figured out that Elon Musk was a Nazi when everybody started comparing him to Henry Ford.

CNN doesn't always write the best articles, but this bit is pretty great.

What's the best holiday season music and why is it the Vince Guaraldi Trio's "A Charlie Brown Christmas?"

Just finished @wiswell.bsky.social 's book "Someone You Can Build a Nest In." I cannot over-recommend it. Fantastic. No notes.

I do have a problem where I found out my favorite genre might be cozy neurodivergent ace lesbian fantasy horror romcoms, and I don't know if there is a second one of those.

I've just received an email from the Michigan SoS office: "Your ballot was received and accepted for counting on 11/05/2024."

I feel full of pride and patriotism about this, although I'm a little worried since I've never been to Michigan.

Hey @skyfeed.xyz - Any plans for language-specific "catch up" feeds? I love "catch up," but it's not useful for me anymore with the site being majority Portuguese.

HOLY SMOKES. Of all the thunder this DNC is stealing, I never expected them to claim the deepest, safest republican iconography: a parade of middle aged white dudes who peaked in high school.

When 30s folks worried about fascism 'carrying a cross and wrapped up in the American flag and a plea for liberty and the Constitution,' they probably were thinking metaphorically and not about candidates stuffing copies of the Constitution into Bibles and selling them wrapped in flags, but wow.

Soothsayer: "Beware the Ides of July!"
Caesar: "The fuck is July?"
Soothsayer: "Oh shit, spoilers. Um, you know what, let's just go with March."

Beware the ides of March, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware of Brutus, too, and shun, the frumious Cassius.

When I'm using a language app like Duolingo, I sometimes get caught up in the arbitrary sentences and start trying to imagine a short story that might call for someone to say something like "the airport isn't here" or "yes, this is America."
