Education nerd and gadfly. Maybe it’s showtunes, maybe it’s brown rage, but it’s always APA style and spicy AF.
So…. I teach as a grad student at this university. www.oudaily.com/news/ou-prof...

I teach high school. My freshman boys are so much kinder and smarter than this schmuck. Money is mystification here. Ugh.

Black Women save the world. It’s too damn often they have to do this work alone. THIS is the kind of democratization and humanization every organizer needs to support.
Pay attention, pls, y'all. To the people. Eyes on the PEOPLE.
Moments ago: tenants of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided at the end of September held a presser to announce they're forming a tenants union.

They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.

More updates TK.

I’m hanging with Muslim YA authors st NCTE and the ALAN conferences (high/middle school teachers encouraging YA reading) and the author conversations here are intense. Chatting with Seema Yasmin and Zainab Jabek about the numbers and promotion structure is wild.

It’s know-how. Understanding the science does actually help you cook and improve your cooking based on results. I cheat and use gravity to keep my bird juicy. Cook it breast side down for 2/3 cook time, then flip it to finish. I also use a force butter on/under skin and cavity. Butter/olive mix.
the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.

We don’t actually have mass transit available in my state since literal J P Morgan got the state rail network destroyed.

In Oklahoma and Texas, the common-ed crews are too. They’d rather swallow a billion dollar AI bill than pay or support teachers and students appropriately at a hundredth that cost.

Dearest beloveds,
What can you do today to fuck up hegemony? I wish you wild, unbridled joy, wicked collaboration, and deep community connection.
With fierce love,
Me.

This is why these companies keep soaking their products into the educational markets—they’re basically making teachers complicit in devaluing and denaturing education and human thinking so teachers and human writing can be replaced and controlled. I use a fountain pen and gift them to students.

Road trip pickles are so much better for the long haul than the carby stuff for me. I used to love white cheddar popcorn and jerky but it’s inconvenient for the teeth.

So...in the United States, the governmental arm tasked with our support, improvement, and protection is focused instead on an agenda of destroying and privatizing public education. This CANNOT be a call to government. It must instead be a call to the humans in this system: students, parents, staff.

Post democracy is right on track. Colin Crouch was right.

Dear Leader's Favorite Son will be loved as long as he is useful. Just like Dear Leader's Favorite Wife--rotting in the tall weeds on his tax-writeoff golf course.
one thing about this is that in the wake of all of this kirk is basically forgotten. he was barely cold in the ground before his allies — before his *wife* — started scheming over what they could take for themselves. a real life parable.
New: Reuters has tallied job losses, suspensions and investigations stemming from the reaction to Charlie Kirk's Sept. 10 assassination. Its findings: More than 600 Americans have been punished, and the figure is likely to be an under-count.

The process of dissertation writing ends in a ton of navel gazing. I hope you find the kind of value in Dr. Crouch that I have--I'm writing about being a secondary English teacher in Oklahoma, and his writing about post-democracy hit me like a hammer in the gut. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-oc...

Isn't it just gutting? I teach creative writing to high schoolers and I play this for my students--after a thumbnail introduction of Feynman--to answer the question "why do we write?"
