Hi,

updating a pinned post. I'm a senior developer living near Barcelona, Spain. I use Scala, Typescript, Go, Rust, and hopefully Unison soon.

Occasionally, I post things, but I'm more of a lurker. I won't spam your timeline. I also blog at my domain (see handle).

Glad to be here!

The Planning Game in XP has a rule: if Johnny reckons he can do it quicker than Jane, then Johnny just volunteered to do it.

If your CEO/CTO/Head of Engineering comes back to the office on Monday and says "2 weeks?! I could do it in 2 hours using Cursor!", hand them the keyboard and wish them luck.

Very interesting! What I often ask Claude to do when it shows the options after planning, is to choose 3 (other) and ask it to "Copy the plan file to <location>". Works great to edit it and then ask it to implement it

OpenAI aren't talking about it yet, but it turns out they've adopted Anthropic's brilliant "skills" mechanism in a big way

Skills are now live in both ChatGPT and their Codex CLI tool, I wrote up some detailed notes on how they work so far here: simonwillison.net/2025/Dec/12/...

It's normal, happens also to native speakers, don't despair. It's like when people in Ireland need to talk to people from Donegal.

And wait until you meet someone from Cadiz...
