Honestly, I think I’m proudest of my novel “The Sisterhood”. It’s cool (to me) because it’s focused around a real historical truth which gets little publicity: the way women fought to abolish slavery in the 18th and 19th C; but is also a lesbian romance.

Would people be interested if I started offering random useless snippets of Regency information on a regular basis?

It might encourage me to keep writing the introductions to different sections of my book on the topic and/or contact publishers with proposals about it.

THE FUTURE IS OURS TO SHAPE

Let’s be bold
and rewild & restore our lands, forests, oceans.

Let’s be clever
and rethink & reshape our global economic & political systems.

Let’s be defiant
and refuse to be complicit
in the idiocies of warmongers, oligarchs & wannabe kings.

What’s this? Is it @penthewriter.bsky.social a day late for #Caturday again? Perhaps that’s why Ares is looking at me so susiciously in this picture, suddenly alert as if he thinks I’m Up To Something…

In the same vein,

“I would follow you back, but you don’t use alt text, or you repost a lot of people who don’t.”

I check the TL of everyone who follows me, and if they post at all, I follow them back… AS LONG AS THEIR POSTS HAVE ALT TEXT.
I see people saying

“I would use alt text but I keep forgetting!”

Thankfully, @bsky.app has a setting for that.

- Go to Settings
- Then Accessibility
- Toggle “Require alt text before posting” to the active setting.

Now Bluesky will remind you to add alt text to all of your posts.

I wanted to make this view of #Penzance look as much like a postcard as I could. Do you think I succeeded?

This is another rather nice story. Read about the fish doorbell, if you missed it back in March.

A canal lock in the Dutch city of Utrecht has been making a splash with its underwater livestream. But what is the Fish Doorbell and how is it helping local wildlife?

And another really positive story. They increased life expectancy by 75%, so people lived 4 years at each stage of illness they’d expect to spend 1 at.

Wow.
Every day after sunset during summer + fall hundreds of thousands of bats leave the their roost near Sacramento, CA to feed

A family of Swainson's hawks waits for them for their own dinner.

Due to the light they're hard to photograph.

Last night one caught a bat less than 30 feet in front of me 🪶

And while we’re here for good news, have this fantastic story about transgender rights in Kenya. A judge not only ruled in favour of a trans woman but ruled that there needs to be trans protective legislation in place.

Remember the “narco terrorist” boat that Trump bombed? Venezuela reports all 11 killed were civilians. 0 gang members.

If you think they’re lying, then USA could prove it by showing the evidence used to verify the 11 were terrorists.

They’ve offered 0 evidence. This was a criminal act. Murder.

I like this post, if you want to know the size of animals (or aminals, as my son called them until he was about five… he could say anemone correctly, though!)
It always gets me how accurate it is.

Hello and welcome to new followers. If you post/repost things with alt text, I will follow you back (though it may take a week or so).

Unfortunately, as a disabled person, I don’t feel able to follow people who regularly post things to their TL which don’t have alt text attached. Sorry!
Just a reminder that you can make sure that you never forget to add alt text to your images by going to:

Settings > Accessibility > Require alt text before posting

(If I haven’t followed you back, it’s because you don’t post alt text, or you regularly reskeet others who don’t.)
