A couple days before full moon in Death Valley NP (California), the moon rises in the eastern sky at 1:30pm. Not a "night" shot. 720nm infrared converted to black-and-white.

Always in awe of plants that seem to be growing out of rocks. The ancient granite monoliths of Joshua Tree National Park (southern California) draw me back year after year. B+W 720nm infrared.

While joshua trees are common in Joshua Tree National Park, other tree types are scarce so when I find them, I love to make their portrait. 720nm infrared converted to B&W.

The Grand dame of ferry pilots, Louise Sacchi, delivered mostly single engine aircraft from the US to Europe via Gander, made 340 solo non-stop crossings of the North Atlantic. She her retired in 1980. An unsurpassed world record. Her story ganderairporthistoricalsociety.org/_html_trans/...

Took a trip to northern California in May this year to walk amongst the giant redwood trees. Early morning fog makes the experience even more special.

This is the last plant in my deck garden of potted perennials to bloom. It happens in late September and the bumblebees love it. I think the plant is sedum also called stonecrop.

A rare and beautiful moment. A Piper Super Cub returns to the nest to feed her young. In only a few weeks, the Piper hatchlings will be ready to take their first flight. Nature is amazing.
