Dear Conservative Christians, if you don’t want to watch the Super Bowl halftime show, then don’t.But spare us the outrage disguised as “discernment.” When the real reason for the boycott is that Bad Bunny sings in Spanish and is Hispanic, let’s be honest about what’s actually going on.

Why Bad Bunny was wearing the number 64… For Puerto Ricans, the number "64" became a symbol of government neglect, gaslighting, and the systemic devaluing of Puerto Rican lives. By wearing it on the world's biggest stage, he is essentially saying, "We haven't forgotten."

The mortality rates on sugar plantations were astronomical and required a constant supply of slave labor. Black and brown bodies were literally the cost of every colonial teaspoon of sugar.

Sugarcane is one of the hardest crops to cultivate. It’s a 24-hour crop that requires constant labor from seedcane to harvest to production. Sugarcane was the economic powerhouse of the Caribbean and several southern states along the Mississippi — white gold.

The US is traumatizing thousands of kids in detention camps. But we are also traumatizing *millions* of kids who are in hiding or fear their parents being snatched.
Like how we have tens of thousands of kids who have survived school shootings, and a whole generation shaped by active shooter drills.
