Groundhog Day was created in 1886 in the US, an update of Candlemas. The first mention in #Brampton 's The Conservator newspaper was in 1893, but it wasn't mentioned again until 1938.

Annette Dionne has died.

The surviving Dionne Quints were consulted in the creation of 1999 Peel Heritage Complex exhibition about their life.

In 1894 a young girl memorialized her visit to the site of the Battle of Queenston Heights. Major-General Sir Isaac Brock died in this 1812 victory against invading Americans which helped establish Canadian self-identity.
