BREAKING: AOC on MTG retiring:

"She's carefully timing her departure just 1-2 days after her pension kicks in and after making millions of dollars insider trading stocks for weapons manufacturers and others while in office."

RFK Jr: I don't know how many died

W: You're the secretary of health and human services. You don't have any idea how many Americans died from covid?

RFK Jr: I don't think anybody knows that

W: How can you be that ignorant?

"Julie" wasn't the only girl he sang to. Christmas circa 1971, Santa brought me his "Gettin' Together" LP for two reasons:
1. I though he was such a hunk.
2. The song "Jennifer" was on it. You brought a smile to this young girl's heart, Bobby Sherman. Peace be with his family. Go rest high, Bobby.

When President Johnson activated the Nat'l Guard in Alabama in 1965 over Gov. Wallace's objection he did it to protect protesters advocating for voting rights for Black people who had previously met violence at the hands of state troopers. Very different situation.

Valerie Mahaffey was a terrific actress. Interestingly, what comes to mind first is a short-lived sitcom, "The Powers That Be." Her co-stars included Holland Taylor, John Forsyth, David Hyde-Pierce, a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and others. Such a gifted actress. Rest in peace, Valerie.

Those on the high court often exercise caution in their choice of words. That is why it was striking when she used an audience of lawyers to deliver a stern message to the legal profession: stand up for democracy, take on the hard fights and do whatever you can to win.
Justice Sotomayor’s Message to Lawyers: Stand Up, Fight and Win
In an era when judges are often assessed by their commitment to democracy, Justice Sonia Sotomayor stands as a stalwart in the pro-democracy camp.

Good morning to everyone but the most corrupt president to ever exist, who is at this moment selling out his nation to the funders of terrorism so his boy can sign another $2 billion deal. Oh and Tom Holman

Absolutely.
Could you imagine the response if a democratic president said they didn’t know if they had to uphold the Constitution?

How fast would the articles of impeachment be drawn ?

Booker: For people with 401(k) accounts and retirement savings, they’ve lost thousands. I’ve been hearing from people who had hoped to retire this year after working 25, 30, or even 35 years, but now they don’t think they have enough money because he’s taken $6 trillion overall out of the markets.

I don't think this pain will be "short-term."

The people cutting lines of credit know this.

The people instituting hiring freezes know this.

The people who've lost their jobs know this.

The Republicans in Congress repeating Trump talking points while their voices quake know this.

Yep.
I'm no lawyer, but it seems like discussing war plans in Signal outside a SCIF is maybe just a little bit worse than using a private server to send emails that weren't even marked as classified. But what do I know.

Unless we elect open-minded and open-hearted people, discrimination based on personal prejudice will be allowed in Georgia. "RFRA" is a "license to discriminate." Choose respecting others as you want to be respected. Choose valuing the right of your neighbors to live as freely as you do.
Sen Elena Parent proposes another amendment which would narrow the potential for “frivolous lawsuits.”

Sen Setzler answers that “RFRA eliminates lawsuits.” Ironically, Setzler just called RFRA a “balancing test, allowing the courts to weigh in.”

Amendment fails again 7-3.

Not surprising, but sad to hear.
BREAKING: In a vote of 102-54, the Georgia State House voted to pass HB 267, an anti-trans bill to ban transgender participation in sports, to ban trans youth from using restrooms that align with their gender, and to redefine sex solely based on reproductive capacity.
