(Continued from previous post)…a friend visiting Australia recently visited the Susannah Place museum in Sydney, which is an old tenement building built in the 1840s for Irish immigrants. Among the exhibits were drawings/renderings of goats that were common in the area.

Third in my ongoing series of suggested thesis topics related to goats: goats and their role in supporting Irish diaspora of mid 19th century, due to Potato Famine/Great Famine. Many goats in 19th c US cities (NY, Baltimore, Philly, etc) were kept in Irish neighborhoods. (Continued in next post…)
