When I taught CW at an arts camp 2yrs ago, we almost titled our end-of-term anthology "cooked"; I'd never heard the terms before, but "let her cook" & "that cooked" were apparently the highest praise. Now I see the word everywhere! Spoken by millennials! Gen Xers! The children truly are the future.

Really, truly thrilled to have a little prose poem in the latest issue of @southernreview.bsky.social; it's about "outdoor dogs" (i.e., dogs that live permanently outside), a phenomenon I had never encountered before moving to rural Texas.

Started Pluribus; saw that the doughnuts in ep. 1 were from somewhere in Annapolis; jokingly said, "I bet those are from the Sandy Pone"; & it turned out THEY ACTUALLY WERE.

Beginning to see Patricia Lockwood poems in the wild again--3(!) In the latest Poet Lore--& dare I hope that another collection is in the offing?? (There is still nothing out there like Motherland, Fatherland, Homelandsexuals!)

In my honors capstone this afternoon, a student blurted out "oooh, that's deep" in response to one of my comments, so I am going to call this first week of classes a success.

After two years of working pretty exclusively on a(n academic) book, writing a standalone article feels like a scandalously quick task. Like, what do you mean I can just call it at 7,000 words??

Rung in the new year at Annapolis's hottest gay bar (a sushi restaurant that stays open until 2am). A twenty-something-year-old lesbian in braces asked if she could eat twelve grapes under our table to help her find true love in 2026. I think we are going to be TikTok famous?
