My family and I were walking in downtown Denver on 17th Street last summer with dozens of others when we stopped for a crosswalk. We heard laughter behind us, turned to look, and there was a Cybertruck at a red light, people pointing at it. The laughter spread like a wave up and down the street.

As far as I can tell there are only about 4-5 Cybertrucks here in south suburban Denver. One of them is that ugly yellow-green one. One is custom wrapped matte black. Another is custom wrapped color-changing. The rest are the basic steel that in a Denver winter constantly look like junkyard heaps.

Finally saw a Cybertruck again in December in a Mediterranean eatery parking lot. Spotted the owner as soon as we entered: investment banker guy with very neat salt-and-pepper hair, disaffected teen daughter, and his fitness influencer wife in her workout gear. Saw them leave in it. Bingo.

Seeing that disgusting Cybertruck yesterday reminded me that there was a weird gap where I didn't see one anywhere at all from mid-September until mid-December, after having seen one at least a few days per week for months. They suddenly disappeared from the roads around here for three months.

Saw a Cybertruck yesterday in a neighborhood where I'd never seen one before. Custom wrap of two different colors on side panels vs. front and rear. Rear panel was a sickly pus yellow, and the sides were green the exact shade of infected gobs of snot. Congrats, you made the ugliest car even uglier.

Damn.
Breaking News: David Lynch, the visionary filmmaker, has died at 78. He was known for his surreal style in films like “Eraserhead” and “Mulholland Drive,” as well as the TV series “Twin Peaks.” nyti.ms/3WphQj8

I was in Seattle in December one day when it was clear enough in the afternoon to catch this mountain view.

I finally started reading Tolkien last year & I'm still reading this year. I saw the Rankin-Bass 'Lord of the Rings' film when it came out and promptly forgot most of it. Through cultural osmosis I've always known a lot about the LOTR characters, hobbits, the premise of the books, etc. And then...

Every big city / industry center has its own currency, sometimes it's money and most of the time it's not. Same with fascist billionaires and politicians. In their private economy, the billionaires trade their currency (money) for the politicians' currency (access to power).

I love all my guitars for different reasons (and I could talk all day about those reasons if you get me going), but I got my first Telecaster this year and it's so good. Sounds great and the neck feels great. I was really surprised, honestly. I had the wrong idea about Teles.

I logged into Twitter for the last time one year ago. At first I really missed the local accounts - news, local govt., emergency services, etc. - and some others. I thought they'd all at the very least start posting elsewhere but mostly they've just stayed put on X. I don't get it. It's not hard.

I joined Twitter in Mar. '07 and just deactivated there yesterday. I setup a Mastodon account (fediverse) in Nov. '22 after Musk started wrecking Twitter. I joined Threads immediately in Jul. '23. I joined Bluesky when I got an invite code in Sep. '23. Times are changing...

It’s been more than a year since I last updated here. But as more people join, this place starts picking up more energy. Time to be a little more active, I guess.

Bluesky rhymes with brewski.

I keep forgetting this is called Bluesky and not Blue Sky. Sorry. The official spelling looks too much like it should be pronounced ‘Bluski’, like a Polish last name in Chicago or something.

Good morning, Blue Sky. Just joined a little while ago. Time to start posting. 🤘🏻
