I’m actually so stuck on Andrej excitedly sharing this seemingly-impressive use of AI, which actually recapitulates tons of existing work to create new and exciting security issues. Any human engineer would have been like, idk dude just use Home Assistant
This seems like AGI.

We aren't vocal about the meetups hosted by the @openhomefoundation.org but we're changing that! Our Event Manager, Flor, is hard at work coordinating more frequent meetups. 😌 We have 4 events scheduled through March! 🙌🏻

Portable Z-Wave just got faster. When used over Ethernet, it matches speeds of a direct USB connection!

Portable Z-Wave on the ZWA-2 got an extra goodie: allow Home Assistant to leverage the Wi-Fi antenna in the ZWA-2 to talk to Bluetooth devices at same time.

Learn more here:
Connect ZWA-2 anywhere: Use Z-Wave over Wi-Fi or PoE

With the Open Home Foundation we keep pushing to make things more open, even if that means that we have to do the hard work re-inventing things from the ground up to ensure it is accessible to all. If you use Music Assistant or make music hardware/software, want to help test our new standard?

Nabu Casa was just the first commercial partner of the Open Home Foundation. Today, we got a second. Apollo will steward the ESPHome brand and will work with OHF on amazing ESPHome products!
Meet our new commercial partner: Apollo Automation
We chat to Apollo Automation about why they've joined us as our second partner. Plus we talk toilets, and why things seem to be getting worse.

This kind of BS is why I left iOS for Android earlier this year (and pre-ordered the Pebble Time!). We need platforms that allow anyone to innovate, not just the creator.
iPhone Pebble watch users will finally be able to reply to all notifications! At least in the EU...thanks to the DMA

Someone sent me more details about Apple's AccessoryNotification SDK - it will be region locked to EU. But the upside is that it has an API for responding to notifications, finally!

there's a certain personality that's very debilitating in modern life. 100 years ago, if you wanted to buy something, you'd go to five local shops and decide. now with the internet, you need to spend 1,000 hours so you can own the best version in the world like you're some venetian patrician

Super happy to see the NYTimes cover the fight to have users take back control of their own devices. (And RATGDO is powered by our ESPHome!)

Every time you throw out a device or hire lawyers for divorce, it is "good" for the economy and makes us more "productive".

Our happiness, time and planet are not captured in how good the economy does. It prefers we are busy shoveling garbage than living life.
