Just finished @scalzi.com's The Independency Sequence and it's terrific. Even better than the Old Man's War series. Really enjoyed these books.

This episode was a lot of fun. Really enjoyed the short story collection. Like Adrian, I listened to it as is my current habit.

I'm watching the extended version of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. Still thrilling, excellent over a decade later.

Word of mouth, either in person or wherever you hang out online, is priceless.
The most recent novel is THE VENGEANCE, the lightest adventure story I've ever written, with sapphic romance, swashbuckling, pirates, vampires, and werewolves. geni.us/thevengeance It's perfect for summer read escapism.

I'm super proud of that series too, because it is... just weird! It has elements of portal fantasy, politics, lashings of feminism and characters that I love and miss spending time with, like the Gargoyle. And the fae are proper scary. None of that disney-esque nonsense in these books!

@aptshadow.bsky.social I read The Bee Speaker last week and enjoyed it! I especially appreciated the twists and turns between the Factory inhabitants and how the protagonists related to the main "gang" (trying to avoid spoilers). It started a little slow but quickly picked up!

@julietemckenna.bsky.social I finished "The Tales of Einarinn" recently and enjoyed the rest of the series as much as the first book. I appreciate the lack of cliche in the characters, their depth. At one point I lost track of which book I was on. I was totally absorbed.

About to land in Tel Aviv and already the apartheid myth is falling apart. I’m literally surrounded by women in hijabs — and just watched Jewish and Arab moms sharing snacks for their kids throughout the flight. Funny how loud the lies are from people who’ve never even been here.

I read "Made Things" over the weekend, and really enjoyed this book too, @aptshadow.bsky.social . When I read your fantasy books, part of my brain is already in a hypothetical D&D campaign while I'm reading. ☺️

Why is it that when fictional magic users cast spells in movies or TV, they use Latin? Shouldn't they use something like Hebrew or Aramaic? 🤔
