I like to put an imaginary fever in your eyes sometimes
and keep it to myself

All of your looks, all your words

all of you.

& all the day birds cease to fly

—a sudden shivered chill

barely have we bid july goodbye
but august’s acting shy

& winter lurks among us still

a clustering of vapors
formlessly formed of a mental fog

a slowly growing field
of flickering images
& the many other atoms of ideas

condensing into dreams to drop
precipitously & with the glow of day
softly fade away
