The first #patchbirding walk of Nov-25. A new ‘from the garden ✅’ as I left the house… a Green Sandpiper flew north over Godinton Park. On route to the Hothfield Waterfall Lake, Mipits mobbing a Sparrowhawk, the flock of Goldfinches & Siskins, Redwings, Mistle Thrush & vocal Green Woodpeckers.

Proper #patchgold today in St Fittick's Park with this drake Gadwall on the main marsh. It's only my fourth ever record here and the first for five years.

#Patchbirding after work and with the clocks now back, light levels are always challenging. A quiet stroll around Singleton Lake & rural Godinton… a couple of Chiffchaffs, Grey Wagtail, Linnet, Goldcrests, Kestrel, C Buzzard, Jay & the usual suspects.

WOODPIGEON VISMIG!! We are approaching the best time of year to witness Woodpigeon passage on your #patchbirding visits, with the peak time being over the next couple of weeks!
Beautiful start to the day at Titchfield Haven with decent vis mig including Redpolls, 5 Glossy Ibis, and an elusive Yellow-browed Warbler still at southern end of Canal Path (found by @frannobirder2024.bsky.social y'day) #PWC2025 #LowCarbonBirding

A big pipit flicking around in the trees in the Balephuil, Tiree garden this morning turned out to be a Rock Pipit! - the first record for this wooded garden - it was flushed away by a Robin

Patchwork Challenge
An awesome month, with autumn migration now in full swing with no stopping in sight! Some patch birders succeeded with finding some mega rare birds on their patches yielding them fifteen well earned points! This just showing that working a patch, birders will one day be justly rewarded, let that be either a national mega bird or a locally good bird that you have always wanted to grace your patch.

East coast migration of Meadow Pipits really kicked off this weekend, and with the first Pink-footed Geese on the move too creating some exciting vismig sessions! #patchbirding
Another great morning of vis-mig at Tynemouth with birds heading south in a light SW wind. Totals by 11.30 included:
4 marsh harriers (!)
3 buzzards
1,925 mipits
225 house martin
125 swallow
150 pink footed geese
80+ siskins
20+ redpolls
23 skylarks
7 swifts
5 grey wags
1 wheatear
1 reed bunting

My first Papay tick of 2025 in the form of a White-rumped Sandpiper, briefly in the North Wick this morning. No sign this afternoon, but made up for by finding this Greenish Warbler in the far geo at Fowl Craig! #OrkneyBirding #PWC2025 Also a Great Shearwater offshore whilst watching it
