PM who wants to grow our economy missed easy one in budget. Cannabis industry wants excise stamps required on every package for each province replaced with a national stamp. Gov't could do it by waving a wand, but Mark Carney didn't listen, reports my favourite reporter.

That’s what I’ve been thinking about these nation-building projects. Is digging and drilling all we can come up with? We must have better imaginations than that. This statement says it better than I can.

This is a really good new regulation from our provincial gov’t
Under the new employment standards regulations, employers cannot ask for a sick note for a worker’s first two health-related, short-term absences of five consecutive days or fewer in a calendar year.

New rules on sick notes eliminate unnecessary paperwork
Effective immediately, new rules limit when employers can ask for sick notes and will allow more time for health-care providers to spend with patients.

CPL final was classic Canadiana. Anytime an outdoor sport final is played a blizzard, it certainly is. It was actually tense, edge-of-your-seat soccer game and coined new Canadian phrase. Atletico Ottawa’s opening bicycle-kick goal (always spectacular under normal conditions) became the icicle kick.

When a court strikes down a law, the answer shouldn't be to trample on people's rights by using the notwithstanding clause, the answer should be to rewrite the law so it passes constitutional muster.

Another clock change. Former Premier John Horgan promised to get rid of this twice-annual ritual, though he made it conditional on Western U.S. states doing the same. David Eby has lost interest. But we haven't, and now it shouldn’t matter what U.S. states do or don’t do. So enact that legislation.
