Happy 10th Anniversary #Anchorit! PAT shares what the Anchor It program has meant to us. While great progress has been made, tip-overs still send someone to the ER every hour. Our work is not done, so please visit anchorit.gov to learn more and be sure to anchor your furniture and TVs to the wall!
Over the past decade, we've worked with Parents Against Tipovers - an organization founded by parents who have lost children in tip-over incidents - and other advocates. Their help has been instrumental in educating the public about this deadly hazard.

For 10 years, we've been promoting furniture tip-over safety and collaborating with the CPSC's #AnchorIt campaign. You can help us! Be sure to secure all furniture with drawers,
doors and shelves to the wall to prevent furniture and TV tip-overs. #Anchoritturns10! anchorit.gov

Did you know there has been a 26% increase in the number of older adults killed by furniture and TV tip-overs? Elders often have decreased balance and impaired safety awareness the older they get. When you #AnchorIt, you are protecting the whole family.

Not sure how to #AnchorIt? Our friends at Charlie's House
put together this great infographic. Ensure you anchor all of your furniture with drawers, doors, and shelves, and your TVs to the wall to prevent tip-over injuries. Even new dressers need to be anchored!

Tip-over truth: The average 50-inch TV weighs 20-40 pounds. That's the equivalent of 2-4 bowling balls falling onto a child, which could easily break bones or cause a catastrophic brain injury. Thankfully, it's easy to prevent. Visit @cpsc.gov's #AnchorIt website to learn more.

"For the past 50 years, CPSC has been the one agency most dedicated to protecting children from dangerous products." And it's on the verge of being eliminated, putting your children and grandchildren at greater risk of injury and death from hazardous products!

Consumers play a vital role in standard development. PAT participates in the ASTM furniture safety committee for clothing storage furniture and furniture anchors and was instrumental in driving the updates to the standard, which are now mandatory under the STURDY Act.

Ever think injuries from furniture tip-overs aren't that bad? This is a little girl who suffered a serious traumatic brain injury as a result of a furniture tip-over. What you see is a surgical scar. What you don't see are the cognitive and physical impairments she may have forever. #AnchorIt
