This: “Hope … is the ability to imagine a better world it possible and then to build it brick by brick…”
"Hope is not blind optimism or uncritical belief in a political savior. Hope, to me, means the ability to imagine a better world is possible and then work to build it brick by brick. It is, as @prisonculture.bsky.social says, not an emotion but a discipline—one we must practice every single day."

Tonight is a great night for Virginia democrats. A lot of folks worked hard to get us here but it has to be said that @bluevirginia.bsky.social has been a key media outlet showing how tell the story of how the democratic party can fight and win.
Does this qualify as "blue tsunami" territory? ;) bluevirginia.us/2025/11/live... h/t @notlarrysabato (great graphics!)

Tonight’s democratic sweep of the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, and state house in Virginia, governor in New Jersey, and Mayor in New York City shows a broad coalition devoted to democracy, good government and the rule of law can win.

Because this is a pending case I will make no comments other than, as our brief stated, that an impartial criminal investigation should always be balanced with respect for constitutional rights.

Arlington up showed up yesterday!!
"Yesterday was a massive EV day in Virginia. The state cast nearly 87% of the final day in 2024's IPEV, overwhelmingly powered by the biggest localities...Arlington County cast 109%(!) despite being down a location vs 2024" - @DjsokeSpeaking bluevirginia.us/2025/11/vide...

I’m tired of watching hardworking folks beg for the basics while billionaires keep cashing in.

Being able to put food on your table should never be a luxury.

You can’t call yourself pro-life while letting families go hungry.

You can’t shout “America First” while putting Americans last.

Jay made the point better than I have the last few days: the AG, arguably even more so than the governor, is the office that can effectively protect Virginia communities from the President’s authoritarian rampage. We can’t think that electing Spanberger alone will be enough.
Jay Jones: Miyares a “willing cheerleader” for Trump’s destructive policies; “We deserve a Virginia that works for every single one of us…not somebody who works for the President”; Miyares “too weak to stand up to the president and too scared.” bluevirginia.us/2025/10/vide...

The VA election for Gov., Lt. Gov, & AG is a choice between putting people in office who will support or stay silent in the face of this👇🏼or people who will stand up against it. Thats the choice

The AG is independent of, and doesn’t answer to, the governor. Returning Miyares to office is placing him in the position to obstruct and block Spanberger’s agenda. If we fall for the false outrage and get frightened into abandoning Jay, Miyares as AG will remain Trump’s right hand in Richmond.
The Virginian-Pilot today: lead story is on Jay Jones, lead editorial is on Jay Jones, nothing on the government shutdown or decimation of CDC or a million other important stories. Your "liberal media" at work! bluevirginia.us/2025/10/sund...

Here are 4 people working hard the last 24 hours got Miyares by attacking Jay : Trump, Vance, Miller, and Musk. It’s fine for us to engage in self critique as a party but let’s be clear about who and what we’ll face in Virginia with the wrong AG.
October 5, 2025 at 10:36 PM
Jay is for criminal justice reform; Miyares isn’t. Jay is for women bodily autonomy; Miyares isn’t. Jay will support a Spanberger agenda; Miyares won’t. Jay will oppose Trump’s federal troops in our communities; Miyares won’t. Enough with the endless self flagellation. We have too much at stake.

I'll also add that the office of the AG is bigger than one candidate. Women's autonomy is literally on the line, not to mention our economy and educational instiutions. Again, Jay's words where horrific. But it's disqualifying that Miyares has done nothing to protect us from Trump's agenda.
Jay has publicly and unequivocally apologized. I respect him for taking responsibility and he deserves our support as the next VA AG. As for the Vice President, I’ll take morality lessons from him when he apologizes for endangering the lives of Haitians by lying that they eat people’s pets.
What Jay said was horrific, and I’m still processing everything. But I won’t be lectured by a guy who has encouraged an insurrectionist to destroy our economy and democracy and hasn’t said a word about a dude linked to literal Nazi porn. You demand Trump and Reid step down, and then we’ll talk.

Uhhh...it's not up to Jason Miyares, it's up to Todd Gilbert and his wife whether or not to accept Jay Jones' apology to them. bluevirginia.us/2025/10/wapo...

If you’ve ever in your life experienced impostor syndrome even for a second, take a look at this below and realize this is a real thing created by the man in charge of this country’s most powerful law enforcement agency.
Someone seems to be overcompensating, also subtle hint to militia folks is rather concerning.

This is BS. My office (“far left prosecutor” per the GOP) is prosecuting this case and it would have been a crime regardless of which gender bathroom — or a parking lot for that matter. Elected leaders weaponizing what these victims went through for political purposes is its own depravity.

@jamellebouie.net speaks with moral clarity: here. We can denounce the violence that took this man’s life and grieve for the children and spouse he left behind while also being honest that his life’s work was about dehumanizing the rest of us who did not look like him.

It was and is the right thing to do.
DOJ’s self-inflicted losses are the Arlington DA’s office’s gains. Heck yes.

On the other hand, biglaw being too scared to hire people fired by Trump’s DOJ is shameful.
