Sunday will be poignant for me. I will pray for Andrew, Bishop of Bangor for the last time as I lead prayers. He has been a good pastor to me, and that most of all is what I ask of my bishop.

I was in Liverpool the other day. I was fascinated by the many and varied padlocks on the quay. I now know they are love locks. I thought they had been placed there as acts of penitence for the city's part in the slave trade. I am so up with modern ways of doing things.

39 years ago today, I entered the Voluntary Evangelism Base of the London City Mission, and stayed for 2 years. I was staying for 2 weeks. It was amazing. I spoke in public, knocked on people's doors, sat with homeless people, chatted to teenagers and grew up.

Humility, vulnerability, collaboration, and trust are hallmarks of Christian ministry. Andy John had these gifts in abundance. I will miss him as Bishop, and so will the Church in Wales

Going to the farewell service of my bishop this evening. A distinguished ministry, and so sad that it ends in the way it does. I am sure history will judge the ministry of Andrew John very kindly indeed.

I have served for over a decade in @esgobaethbangor.bsky.social, and all that time +Andy been my bishop. He has been unfailingly kind and pastoral in his dealing with me. I know not very much about what has happened at the cathedral.

Peter, on the day of Pentecost, could have spoken in Greek. Overwhelming majority of those listening would have understood. But everything that is important should always be spoken in the language of the heart. This is why learning Welsh continues to be an important pt of my Christian discipleship.
