Just Finished: These is my Words (the diary of Sarah Agnes Prine 1881-1901). A recommendation from a friend and a successful local library acquisition. This was a really moving story of survival in the Arizona Territories. Horrific yet hopeful and beautiful at times. I loved this book. #booksky

Celebrating 45 this past week. What I am reading: Robin Hobb Mad Ship, Mona Awad Rouge, and possibly my 10th read of The Secret Garden. Potatoes, Pages and Piney Plays. #booksky #reader #books #jerseydevil

Currently Reading: Ship of Magic from #robinhobb s liveship traders trilogy. This is my second Hobb trilogy and although it is not sucking me in immediately like Farseer, you can tell she is building up to something really great. Only 3 chapters in and excited to see where this goes! #booksky

North and South. Take Pride & Prejudice, get rid of the sisters, stage it in a dark smokey manufacturing town, scale down the romance, add in a heavy dose of the working class problems of the time. Margaret is the most independent female character I have read written in Victorian era! #booksky #books

Still in that Jane Mindset this week! Flowers coming up in the neighborhood, birds are singing, I ordered a bunch of Jane Austen Fanfic on thriftbooks. Longbourn was great, currently reading Austenland which is ok. I may have more arriving this week 😬 #booksky #janeausten #janeite #books

Andersen’s & Japanese Fairytales were on my grandparents shelves. Nanny would read from Andersen’s to me. I vividly remember The Fir Tree and The Tinder Box. The fairy tale books are now on my shelf. I still on occasion immerse myself in stories of dogs with dish plate eyes. #booksky #fairytale

Currently Reading: Longbourn by Jo Barker. Finished reading #prideandprejudice and want to live in #janeausten s world a little longer? Give #longbourn a go! The same timeline and taking place in the Bennet residence but through the eyes of the household servants. Loving it! #booksky #books

Lately I have been on a Regency reading kick. Books that take place in England from the late 1700s to Early 1800s. Quite a few include a visit to Bath. Both Jane Austen and Mary Shelley resided there. I got to visit Bath about a year ago and was immediately charmed! #booksky #bath #regencyera

Previously Read: The three Jane Austen books I have read to date. I read #prideandprejudice in 2023 and fell in love. I have read it twice since and added one J.A. a year into my TBR. I read persuasion in 2025 and Anne Elliot holds her place as my favorite Austen FMC. #booksky #janeausten #books

Currently Reading: The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies, by: Alison Goodman. Addictive Regency Era mystery that follows two sisters in their 40s as they save women, solve crimes and make their way in London society. Full of feminist wit and adventure! #booksky #regencyera #books #reader

Happy #tolkientuesday I like to pick up books and visit independently owned bookshops when I travel. I received this copy of The Hobbit from an Uncle of mine. I found The Silmarillion at #theminstergatebookshop in York, and The Adventures of Tom Bombadil at #toppingandcompany in Edinburgh #booksky

Currently Reading: The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. I have read 3 Bradbury books and so far this super weird creepy little book is my favorite! #booksky #raybradbury #scifibooks

Signs of spring: little pops of color in the yard and garden. The background noise of my home is Tom McCarthy announcing the Phillies. I find myself wearing florals and craving Regency and Victorian era romance reads. #booksky #romancebooks #victorianromance #lisakleypas #spring

Guess I'll be reading a lot more science books, books by black authors & LGBTQIA lit from now on. The more someone tries to remove these things from a country's history, archives & day to day life, the more I stand up to be counted & search for the truth! I survived reading a lot of banned books too

Previously Read:The Women of Troy Series by Pat Barker. For #internationalwomensday I am sharing a series that my soul wholeheartedly absorbed. The Illiad told from the perspective of the sacrifices, slaves, mothers, daughters. The resilient voices silenced, are now finally given a place. #booksky

Currently Reading: Klara And The Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. I fell into this unusual story immediately. The book’s narrative and POV is from a “AF” or artificial friend who is experiencing the human condition through observation and in turn feels “more human than a human”. #booksky #dystopian #books

Diana Gabaldon’s Voyager: one of the settings is Edinburgh. I got to visit Edinburgh last spring and walked The Royal Mile, explored a couple of Closes, spied The World’s End bar, picked up a couple of books, sat down to have a coffee and befriended a pigeon #edinburgh #booksky #outlander #books

So interesting how the farm animals are told to believe what they’re told, not what they remember. So interesting that the commandments are rewritten as needed. So interesting that those in charge prosper on the backs of the subjugated. So interesting how relevant this feels in 2025 #booksky

Currently reading: Animal Farm by: George Orwell. This has been on my TBR since I read 1984 in high school. Orwell has this way of weaving terrifying political ideas and history into his easy to read stories that makes you think, remember, and recognize. #booksky #georgeorwell #books #reader
