California’s Prop 13 was meant to help homeowners. It's the opposite.

New research supported by the Progress & Poverty Institute’s Progress of Ideas grant program shows that Prop 13 has deepened inequality and made housing less affordable across Los Angeles County.

Henry George was born in the City of Philadelphia on this day in 1839. George went on to become one of the most renowned social reformers of the 19th century, and his work inspired the founding of the Progress and Poverty Institute - formerly the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation - in 1925.
