Back in 2020, when in person shadowing was not allowed, I began virtual shadowing sessions to help students log their shadowing hours 😊

To date, we have continued these sessions, with our 1000 student signed up!

If you know any students who would like some virtual shadowing hours (free), DMs open🤗

Calling patients who were discharged from the ICU while i was the attending.

Always nice to hear about their improvements from them and family 😊

Reaffirms the work we do at their worse allows them to recover and strive again for their best.

Two mentees published their first 1sr author papers
One got into medical school
And one told me they have their first mentee!

Pay it forward AND invest in people 😊

This is the good that we can bring 💪

Hi, all!

A small group of people with long COVID is hosting a virtual rally on Saturday at 2:30 pm Pacific. We recognize that not everyone is able to participate in person, so we started hosting protests online in April.

Spent the evening discussing 5 years later regarding the start of the COVID19 pandemic.

I can STILL recall the first patient hand I held after their terminal extubation. A hand I held so they wouldn’t die alone, while the family cried over Zoom.

That sound, that feeling, it is etched into my mind😞

One of the elders of our Greek community brought me a homemade baklava today 🥹

“I’m 89. When I make baklava it’s for special occasions. You don’t have your mom today but I know she would want you to have baklava for your birthday.”

Love my community 💜

My patient brought me a copy of the local newspaper that highlighted our work in the community 🤗

And I LOVE THE HEADING!

Who says you can’t spread laughter when promoting health and wellness?

Glad the reporter credited my amazing dad jokes 😉

Yes, this seems to be not about policy differences, especially without a reasonable transition plan.
“We can have legitimate policy arguments about how much the federal government should be paying in indirect costs for the research it funds. This new policy, though, clearly wasn’t motivated by those policy arguments. It came directly from a Project 2025”

Patient months on a ventilator than a tracheostomy; today, they received their speaking valve.

I love these moments, watching their families hear them, for the first time in months!

It’s these moments that reaffirm humanity in the ICU and reset hope for all 🤗

A dose of good:
Long day at work finished by being in Turner Station teaching their Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts bystander CPR!

May be biased, but as an ICU doctor, this is such a vital skill to learn.

Invest in youth and teach them skills that make them super heroes 💪
