#FossilFriday: the early Jurassic pliosaur Rhomalaeosaurus cramptoni. Its discovery is often attributed to #MaryAnning, but it was found a year after her death by quarrymen in Yorkshire. And this example, in the Natural History Museum in London, is a plaster cast; the original specimen is in Dublin.

For #FossilFriday here’s the holotype partial skull of the procolophonid Hwiccewyrm, which we described last year from the Late Triassic of SW England. Named for the ancient kingdom of Hwicce and the Old English for dragon. More procolophonid material from the same site coming soon!
