Right place right time, pulled up to park along the esplanade in Sherringham and there it was the Eastern Black Redstart. What a stunner! Have had fingers crossed 🤞 for weeks hoping it would stay for our Norfolk visit 😀

Burnham beach this morning and we spent an hour watching the Kentish Plover in beautiful sunshine. As the tide came in so the Plovers gradually came closer until they all upped and flew towards Stert Island. Nice to see a Sanderling as well. #somersetbirding #ukbirding

Our local nature reserve at Uphill, Weston-S-Mare and a great opportunity to see a Red-breasted Merganser at close range. It seems happy feeding and diving on a small ‘boating lake’, nice to get a chance to see all those feather details. #avonbirding #ukbirding

With our birding adventures greatly hindered at the moment it was great to see several Cattle Egrets in various fields during a drive across the Somerset Levels. Brilliant characters to take time to watch as they interact with the cattle. #ukbirding #somersetbirding

A very misty and damp start to our walk on the Quantocks yesterday. After an hour or so the mist cleared, the sun appeared and so did the Fly Agarics. Found them in several areas along our route, a good year it would seem for these beauties 😀🍄 #ukfungi #quantockhills #somersetwildlife
