Tired and exhausted social construct. Just checking things out here. Will probably talk about RPGs and writing.
Looking at new systems for an upcoming pick-up game and I am certainly overwhelmed by the possibilities. Not that I'm complaining, but narrowing down the list is going to be a bit challenging.

It took 3.5 hours but Session 0 ended with a mostly complete Daggerheart character: a fey-themed Seraph.

Alright, Dungeon Crawl Carl is entertaining, mostly because Princess Donut, but it's still a fun time to see someone going through real-life Nethack.

Doing some Daggerheart tonight. Already rolled min damage on a spectacular AOE attack. Looked amazing doing it though!🧙

Started doing "shut up and write" sessions with a friend and it has really boosted my creativity. Two world ideas sketched out in two days.

RIP Dragon Age and (likely) Mass Effect. Lots of fun memories across those games. I hope the writers and devs can continue to create amazing games with other studios.

The past week has been a series of trials to avoid throwing out my back.

One of my wishlist items for any RPG, whether tabletop or video game, is that it makes a martial character fun to play. Spellcasters often receive a multitude of fun spell options, but the true challenge is crafting a fun martial class with the same degree of customizability.

Going between Pathfinder 1e and 2e creates so much cognitive overload. I do wish that I could stick with just one edition (preferably 2e at this rate).

Make sure to keep creating, whether that be fiction, art, roleplaying games, videos, etc. Creativity can be such a powerful force to keep you grounded and comforted.

Now that Fabula Ultima is over, back to Pathfinder 2e.⚔️

The Fabula Ultima Atlases have some of the best examples for how to set up a region for PCs to explore, with guided questions, setting themes, and points of interest. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to run a fantasy TTRPG, D&D or not.

Are there any TTRPGs with good grappling rules? I have been playing for so long and have yet to run across a system where playing a wrestling-themed character is ever worth struggling through terrible grappling subsystems.

Didn't get it finished during orctober, but it's always orctober in my heart 🙏

TTRPG Tip from this week's session: remix your favorite scenes from movies, books, and shows into your game. Keep the plot beats but tailor them to your story. In this instance, putting the zombie hoard on your space fantasy ship can really ratchet up the tension.😉

TTRPG Wish: Sorcerers who do not cast spells, but draw unique abilities from their bloodlines. As they level up, they get access to stronger abilities, but their physical form is slowly transformed by the power within.

My contribution to Orctober, here is my half-orc alchemist Adurnus (aka The Doctor) that I played in my Carrion Crown campaign. Leaning into the gothic horror atmosphere, I ran him as a Jekyll and Hyde figure who would partially transform into a monster during combat.

The satisfaction that you feel when your big TTRPG campaign reveal is well-received by the table. 🤩

Love BG3, but an option to customize your character's appearance after starting the campaign would've been nice.

I frequently think that running a premade campaign or adventure path will be less work, but then after I start running, I often jettison half of it and spend more time making it work better for my players and their characters than I would with a custom homebrew campaign. 🥴
