Many in #Tolkien studies owe a great debt to the Catherine McIlwaine @bodleianlibs. She helped out many scholars but also curated the incredible 'Maker of Middle-earth' exhibition. She leaves her post tomorrow as archivist for a new role at the Bod. Many thanks Catherine!

The event will be streamed online, so no one need be excluded by travel costs.
I wonder how many young, budding writers and enthusiasts will be immediately excluded from this by the cost of travel.

It's a great event - teenage me would have jumped at it - but the sheer nature of how limited the access is sets my teeth on edge. Teenaged me would never have had the funds to go.
