In 1982(?) Game vs Chelsea, Denis Law was summarising for the telly. He climbed down the ladder from the tv gantry in the Ford Stand to find me waiting for an autograph. He signed, smiled and said "its fucking parky". RIP. #oafc

Yesterday was an enjoyable day with a disappointing result. We missed Stones and Clucas and we missed too many opportunities. That said, what a magnificent effort by the players. They had the better of the game, especially in the first half, & the worst of the referee. We will win the league. #oafc

It is wrong to call off a game because the ref is scared to get his socks muddy. Get some 3 inch studs on and gerron wi' it! #oafc

It's clear that privatisation only works for those raking in the profits. The fact that they also control the narrative is depressing.
Large parts of adult social care in England face collapse, thinktank says.

The budget blamed but there are other factors.

Massive real cut in local govt funding since 2010.

Privatisation: 30%-40% of money vanishes in profits. Money buys less.

End Privatisation

I'm sorry to hear of the death of John Prescott. At a time when politicians seemed to become less 'real', he was somebody to whom many could relate. He felt hugely important to the many domestic successes of the 1997-2010 Labour government. A counter weight with a counter punch. RIP.

All the evidence shows importance of greater access to nature, so cuts to England’s national parks are short-sighted & self-defeating. Instead Govt should reform them, give them a strong nature recovery focus & recognise their contribution to health & wellbeing www.theguardian.com/environment/...

On Monday we learnt that 1 in 3 children are living in poverty…

And that deprivation has hit a record high

Given their new found compassion for struggling Brits

Where’s Jeremy Clarkson, Nigel Farage and Andrew Lloyd Webber to fight their corner?

…anywhere?
November 20, 2024 at 8:55 AM
Constant whining from the wealthy who set their satnav to take them down every tax avoidance avenue possible frustrates me intensely. I don't even set mine to avoid toll roads. Clarkson can't even be bothered to defend his position, which is veering right across the double white lines. Keep left!

The protestors want to call it "the tractor tax" because calling it "the inheritance tax protest" would turn off public opinion.

The tractors coming into London today, in fact, pay no road tax, no congestion charge, and no ULEZ.

Exempt from all.

I have little sympathy for farmers marching against IHT. It doesn't greatly impact the majority of farms & sensible financial & succession planning mitigates damage for those who are affected. The fact that many of these farming turkeys voted for Christmas doesn't endear me to them either.

Bit of a mixed day today... Have Norovirus (which has aggravated my psoriatic arthritis) but my 60+ old git pass has arrived. Sadly the lack of toilets on trains and stations (combined with consideration for my fellow passengers) means a slight delay in using it!
